Central East Tennessee

The eastern most section of the Tennessee grand divisions. Stretching from Chattanooga to Bristol the mid section is home of Knoxville, the University of Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains. The region contradicts itself at every turn. The Great Smoky Mountains welcome 12 million tourists a year but stays true to the heritage that has been in place since the 1700s's, The University of Tennessee welcomes record number of students every year yet traditions such as the torchberar, the rock and gameday traditions for decades.

Sevier County is in constant conflict with itself. Residents enjoy millions of visitors a year but dread seeing more land swallowed up for development. Quiet old farms are traded for bright lights of resorts and attractions. From Seymour to Gatlinburg and Kodak to Pittman Center all are welcome here and all are welcome to leave here.

Knoxville is the home to the University of Tennessee and the 41,287 students enrolled in the fall 2026 semester. Neyland Stadium welcomes 100,000 people on gamedays. A short walk over to downtown and market square the city welcomes fans from everywhere to enjoy and relax in the city.

The University of Tennessee Knoxville was established as Blount College two years before Tennessee was the sixteenth state. The fall 2026 enrollment is the largest UTK has ever had with 41,287 people enrolled.
